Hi all, I got my approval letter yesterday, no date for next cermony, just asking for normal docs, GNIB, 950€...
here is my details: applied on 10 Aug 2011, based on 5 years stamp 4. got LTR long term recidency on Dec 2011 and send INIS a copy of it.

i was calling INIS for the last 4-5 months and got always the same answer "waiting garda report", just 4 weeks ago i called and told the lady that I got LTR since Dec 2011 and according to Mr. Shatter speech that who has LTR approved they will get their citizenship application go faster as most of checks already done (that was advice from a friend), she said she will check my application and give me a call after that, I did not get any call so after a week I called again and for my surprise the lady told me that my application was send to the minister for approval.
hope someone will get benifit from my expeirence.

I just called INIS. Asked them regarding the application status. She said all is fine. When asked further she said waiting for reports there is a back log and we do not know when this log will be cleared. She did not want to say anything and just wanted to hangup.

I did not want to annoy her so she said to all is ok from our dot worry and then we got off the call

Got a post from my community forum, for a form 9 minor naturalisation application, it just took 4 weeks to be approved (asking for €200). Posted payment after 4 days and received the certificate in 14 days after.

7 weeks in total.

Now that's what I call express; that is the kind of service we all dream about

Thou if you want to ask, I really don't know the specifics or if there is anything special about the situation of the child.

Excellent progress at least in minors' applications.
Props to INIS for the speedy process (at least for this one).

I rang them tofay aswell , lady answered she said your application is in middle if we meed anything we will write you, wating for garda report cant tell when was it requested ,she said they are v busy clearing d b log and have received hundreds of garda reports recently. She said we will notify you once we have something concrete. Just wait. Thats all she said . t dont know how long garda report takes.

I was told couple of weeks ago that my report was requested in April. Still waiting. A friend of mine was told in Jan that they are waiting for Garda report and they tell him the same still.

Applied in 17 Dec 2011. Received reference number on 20th December in 3 days. Since then waiting.

Yes, I know one guy from noshra applied in mar 2012 and got approval in oct 2012. On 5 yr base.

I applied on the basis of 5 yrs residency in feb 2012, still waiting for decision I called inis last week they told me still waiting for garda report n they have sent query last october to garda n it takes 4-5 months however I spoke to garda vetting they told me they only take 10 weeks maximum I m really disgusted with their response

I applied in early September 2009 and still getting the same answer.
There is no justice in the department of justice.

guys here is stupid joke. i send a email to citizenship section aweek ago. i got a stupid reply which i guess every one got one
nd a day later i send them another email with with different email address and random name and different refrence number which did not exist and i got the same reply. ha what the hell is that. thats the way they will let u know your application status.

Hi guys,

I appied for LTR on 16 of Feb 2012. Just got a letter asking for ;
1. Headed paper for current emplyer confirming that i am still in employment.
2. copy of current contract of employment!

I was on work permit (1 year) ; hosting agreemnt (4 years); and now stamp 4 .
its state in the letter that requierment of the LRT that applicant be in current employment under work permit/ work authorisation/ working visa condition.

I don't know what will be my situation in May I was redundent and then got new emplyment in med of July.

I am I still eligible for LRT or not????

I will send what they request any way ans see their replay?

Deputy Niall Collins asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the measures he is putting in place to ensure transparency and fairness in the application process for citizenship following the recent Supreme Court decision (details supplied) quashing a decision to refuse citizenship on the grounds that he had failed to give reasons; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Justice and Equality his plans to review cases similar to Mallak v the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, following the decision of the Supreme Court in relation to the lack of transparency and fairness in the process of applying for Irish citizenship.

Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Justice and Equality his plans to progress with the introduction of an independent review mechanism for those whose applications for Irish citizenship were turned down, following the highlighting of the lack of transparency and fairness in the process by the Supreme Court Mallak v the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform.

Minister for Justice and Equality (Deputy Alan Shatter): I propose to take Questions Nos. 127, 128, 135 and 136 together.

The implications of the judgement of the Supreme Court referred to by the Deputies are being considered in consultation with the Office of the Attorney General and any revised procedures arising will be implemented without delay. The Deputies should note that although the Supreme Court in its judgement quashed the Minister’s decision to refuse the application in this particular case, it went on to say that it is not for the Court to prescribe whether the Minister will give notice of his concerns to the applicant or to disclose information on which they may be based or whether the Minister will continue to refuse to disclose reasons for the refusal but to provide justification for so doing. In the particular case it is open to the applicant to lodge a new application.

Section 15 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act 1956, as amended, provides that the Minister may, in his absolute discretion, grant an application for a certificate of naturalisation provided certain statutory conditions are fulfilled. The conditions include lawful residence, being of good character and having an intention to continue to reside in the State after naturalisation.

All applications for naturalisation are submitted to me for decision. I make my decision in my absolute discretion based on the entirety of the case presented and taking into account other important considerations which I as Minister have a duty to uphold such as the integrity of the immigration system, the economic and security interests of the State and its international relations.

It is open to any individual who is not satisfied with a decision to deem their application ineligible or a decision to refuse citizenship to lodge a new application for citizenship at any time in accordance with the provisions of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act 1956 as amended.

To put the matter into context, since coming into office I have made decisions on over 37,200 applications of which 34,100 were approved. A total of 3,100 were deemed ineligible or were rejected because they did not comply with the statutory criteria. Only a very small number of applications that were refused fall within the consideration of the judgement in question.
