student visa dependent

Post by hypegal3 » Sat Feb 10, 2007 5:55 pm

Sorry for long message.

ok my mom came here in 2000 and got student visa, and i came in 2001 aged 13 and became a dependent on her student visa, so both our passport was sent into home office, i got the same time limit as her everytime.

but when i was 18 i sent in my own form FLR(o) and my mom sent in FLR(s), and got the same time limit as each other. i only needed to write a letter that i was emotionally and financially dependent.

but now i am 19 and i am thinking of doing the same again send the FLR(o). i phoned the home office and they told my that a dependent can work full time and/or do part time study.

Is this correct.

yes, as a student dependent and hold such visa, you can absolutely work on full-time job with no problem.

thanks for your reply, now i have been looking around websites and they all say something about a sticker or stamp that should be in my passport as a student dependent.
my mom has 12 months in her visa and i got the same.

what do they mean.

Hi,
I think if your visa stamp says no recourse to public fund, you can work as a student dependant. If it says no work or recourse to public fund, you cannot work.

its ok thanx anyway i understand it now i have done researches and i can WORK FULL TIME because there is no restriction on the work i could be offered YEAH FOR ME. and i can also do part time study.

if you look on home office website and search for stamps, i think you will see that i can work full time.
