ILR and public funds.

My in-laws have been admitted to the UK with Indefinite Leave to Enter and settlement status to join my wife (We have ILR and settled here). They have been here from September 2006. There is therefore no restriction on their VISA in terms of employment or recourse to public funds. My father in-law is 68 with no savings or income.

Are they allowed to access public funds - Is my father in-law eligible to apply for State Pension Credit?

If you don't mind can you please tell us under what category did your inlaws get ILR?

He is above 65 and nobody else to turn to. He was/is financially solely and wholly dependent on my wife (his daughter). ILR under Other Relatives - dependent parents.

If he's been wholly dependent on ur wife why is he needing Public Funds now?

Extra income will help.

Living expenses in England is high. Having extra income supplement from the government, if they are entitled to, will certainly help.

Btw in your first thread you mentioned your "in-laws" and in the other reply you mentioned only your FIL, so is it one person or both your wife's parents have been admitted as dependents?

Sorry to confuse you. I thought I was trying to make it less complicated for you by only mentioning the relevant and necessary.

It is both my father and mother in-law. Both have been admitted as dependent and have ILR. Only my father in-law is trying to claim for state pension credit and my mother in-law's benefit will come under his.

So...What do you think?
