Does she have a chance on 14 year application?

Post by noush » Mon Feb 12, 2007 4:37 pm

Dear All, your advice would be much appreciated,

A friend of mine came to UK (LEGALLY) in 1994 from Pakistan after getting married to her first cousin in Pakistan in 1991. He, a british national, left her the day after the ceremony and she never saw him until she got a six month visa to come here and find out whats going on, only to find him married to another woman so she was advised to apply for political asylum as there was a lot of trouble going on in Pakistan at the time and her husband refused to have anything to do with her. her application got refused and she appealed. She waited and waited and to date has heard nothing. Her solicitor's firm got closed down and all papers lost. She has been at the same address for thirteen years and has never heard a word from the HO. She has even rung up with her Reference number and they say they cannot find anyone under that Reference. She has not married or had kids as she felt it was unfair to get involved with an uncertain future here but she has ALWAYS been in full time employment although not a Practising Professional. She would like to apply under the 14 year rule. Should she and does she have a chance?

Thanks.

When she has been here for 14 years .... well why not. It sounds like that means an application some time next year might be possible.

Thanks for such a speedy reply John! Much appreciated! That sounds great, the trouble is if they do send her back, she has nothing and no-one to go back to...also, are we correct in thinking that she is unable to travel? The poor girl has been couped up for 13 years without being able to move. Finally, the fact that she is nearly 40...do you think this could hinder her chances?

Thanks.
