Schengen visa to Indian parents visit Amsterdam, Paris

Post by zircon » Tue Feb 13, 2007 10:31 am

Hi there,

I am an Indian, working in London since last 4 years on a work permit. My parents are currently in London on their visit visa for couple of months. I am planning to take them to Amsterdam and Paris in the next month. Are they eligible to apply for a schengen visa while they are in London? If they can, what are the documents they need to submit in the embassy?

Does any one have information or advice in this regard?

Thanks,

They are only entitled to apply for schengen visa if they are resident in the UK, leave to remain for more than 6 months etc.. and not as tourists. They should have applied for their schengen visas back home before proceeding to the UK.

Actually although most embassies do not approve of people applying for Schengen visas outside their country of normal residence, is IS possible. It usually takes a bit longer to process and will almost certainly involve a personal visit to the embassy.

The French embassy will be able to help your parents out provided they have all the correct documentation:

In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Good to know that option exists for non residents just on holiday. From the ministry of foreign affairs for Belgium's website, it's possible to apply via a belgian consulate as well as a tourist alhtough it will take more time,as Dawie mentioned in his post. Here's the link.
