1. my husband is a british citizen so he will enter his british passport number in Q4 do we then also have to provide details of grandparents date of birth/place & date of marriage? as we are both born abroad
2. does my husband need to send in his passport as supporting documents?

1. If you have the information, supply it to make things simpler.

2. If the child is born in the UK, the Passport Office will need proof that one parent of the child is a British citizen or permanent resident.

If sending passports through the post, be careful as loss/theft is rampant. Make sure the Passport Office will use a secure method to return it to you. If possible, use the Post Office Check & Send service.

No mA'am! You don't need to send in your husbands passport as a supporting document. The passport number given will enable them to access your husbands profile. My wife applied for our child's first passport not so long ago and we didn't send in my passport. I can't remember about the grandparents part but I am sure about your husbands passport. Why would they need his passport if they issued it?:)

I assume that you are going to make the application from your words, right?

Just to let you know that if your husband were to make the applicaton he would need a marriage certificate as a supporting document. This part was a problem for us because we didn't have a notarised translation. A mother doesn't need a marraige certificate to make the application so we decided that it was easier for my wife to apply.

Good luck!
