Citizenship for spouse before 3 years

Hi,

I have been a silent spectator of this forum and thanks to all the contributing members, now i too know a thing or two about immigration. I'm recently naturalised as British citizen and my spouse has ILR. She has been in UK for 2 years and 4 months since her first arrival. The application form for citizenship specifies that spouse should have been in UK for 3 years on the day application received by HO. But i remember reading in some threads that some members have applied for their spouses before 3 years and HO has accepted such applications(I may have read wrong and would have intrepreted it differently). I'd appreciate if some one can clear this issue.

The requirement for applicant to have been in the UK exactly 3 years before application cannot be waived.

However it does not matter what visa she held at that time, as long as absences since then fall within the limits, and that all presence in the UK was lawful.
