Advice Needed urgently

Post by flamenco » Wed Mar 07, 2007 5:42 pm

Dear Forum Members

I just got my hsmp application approved. Now my problem is that I was made redundent while my application was under process. Now I have to apply for EC. Should I mention in VAF1 about the fact that I am no longer working with my previous employer? Would it make any difference? Please advise as I am planning to apply for EC next week. Thanks

yes, just state that you are not currently working but you've had offers from other companies or agencies and it shudnt be any problem securing a job soon. This could be email correspondence from agencies askin u if u are lookin for work or job advert online relating to ur field of work.

Most important thing is to show you can accommodate urself when u get to the UK and that is by showing u have a house/place (cud be renting, staying with friends or relatives) to stay and got enuf money in ur bank acct and u wont be sourcing for public funds while u are not working.

so remember, they want your money which why they are Taxing you and not the other way round by u collectin their money without doing anything.

Good luck!

Thanks for your response. It seems that you advised me considering me as a in the country applicant. I am actually an out of country applicant and is intending to apply for EC but not working at the moment. just wondering if it could have any impact on my EC application

Hi,

I'm actually advising u as an out-country cos there might be possiblity u'll be called for interview. Thats why i said u can take print out copies of jobs advert or email correspondences from ur agencies.

Working or not working when apply for EC doesnt matter, cos the whole idea is that u are comin to the UK to come and work but it does help if u've got a job offer already but if u havent got any, there is still no problem. Just take all original docs u submitted for ur initial HSMP and prove that u have accommodation and ebuf funds in ur bank acct.

Good luck.....i'll be applyin for my EC as well from next week :)

Dear Skilachi

Thanks for your prompt response. I am a little confused if I should give the details of my previous employer in VAF1 or not as the BHC might contact my ex-employer for verification purpose. Is it a must that the BHC would contact them definitely? Although, I have been employed during the whole period claimed for income points, however, I was made redundant a month after the period claimed and that would be brought into the ECO at BHC. Should I disclose in the VAF1 that I am no longer working with this employer anymore?

I think there is absolutely no problem in your situation, yes you should be cautious but don't be scared. When HSMP is given to you it's on the basis of experience and earnings u were making before sending the docs to HO. In any case you can tell them that as you would be leaving for UK soon there is no pint in making a job search here, you would have left the organization any way sooner or later.
You should disclose that and not hide it unless there is something fishy. If that's company's decision to have certain number of redundancies then you can't do anything. Let them contact the company, they will also come back with the same thing then y to worry...
show them all other bank statements and proof of enough income so that you could sustain urself and family, if there.

Thanks for your reply. There is nothing fishy in this case. Its just that I am worried that knowing that I am not working with this company anymore, the ECO might suspect my previous income, although all the proofs e.g IT return, Bank Statements, Employer's letter are there to substantiate it. I will now be disclosing my non employment in the VAF1. Thanks anyway.

Were you employed with the same employer while u got your approval?
You should inform the BHC because there is a clause in HSMP application that if there any change in your current circumstance you will notify them of this change. Therefore i would recommend that you mention it in your VAF application because BHC does verfication of your Employment / Earning-

I was working with the same employer when I applied for HSMP. However I got redundant after a few days when my application was still under process. I now hold the HSMP approval letter and planning to apply for EC and am just confused as to what to write in the employment columns. What if I take employment with another employer? would the BHC check it with the new employer of the previous one which was mentioned in the HSMP application. Does it make a difference if I show myself not being employed anymore?

DONT WORRY !

i will say just make sure that if you have included any contacts in your covering letter for your previous employer, make sure these contacts are still active - if they are called by the embassy then they can confirm that you have left your job.

make them print you a letter saying that you have left and on which date and which date you have started employment with them.

the fact you have left your job actually makes your EC application stronger - it shows that you are intending to make the UK your home place

All the best.

Hi all,

I am now sending my VAF1 application for EC. Please can anyone advise as to what should I write in the employer information section as it asks for the current employer information and as mentioned before, I have been made redundant after I sent my HSMP application but before I got a decision on the HSMP application. Should I leave it blank or provide the previous employer's details? Also, I have a valid UK visitor visa valid till mid 2010. Would it make any difference on my HSMP related EC? what about my visitor visa status? would it get cancelled once HSMP EC is granted?

Hi Flamenco,

Just put N/A (Not Application) in the field. I too had to leave my work before i applied for HSMP and got approved. All you need with ur EC is a letter from ur former employer stating the period u worked for them, that way the EC officer will know the dates u worked for ur previous employer.....

I submitted the same reference letter from my previous employer stating the dates i was employed and left including verifying how much i was earning wen i applied for the initial HSMP and also with my EC.
