Can I use a German Schengen business visa for holiday?

Post by jacquesbotha » Sun Mar 11, 2007 6:13 pm

Hi. I currently have a schengen visa (type C) that I acquired for a business trip to Germany. I went for 5 days and came back to the UK (where I live). I now want to go to holiday in Spain in May 2007. The visa is multiple entry and valid till June 2007.

Does anyone know whether I will actually be able to use this to go to Spain as well as it is originally for Germany, or do I need to get a new visa for this purpose?

Was your passport stamped at the port of entry at Germany to show that you have already travelled to Germany on it? A Schengen Visit visa issued by Germany can be used to visit Spain without encountering any problems with the Immigration Officers there as long as it is valid, is multiple entry and you dont exceed the 90 days out of the 180 days limit.

Dont know whether there is any difference between a Visit visa and a Business visa as far as travel is concerned... though it hardly seems likely.

Hi there. Thanks for the reply. Yes, the schengen visa page has been stamped on entry and exit in Germany. Does this mean I could then use it for Spain.

Thanks in advance...

Thats a really good sign as you now have proof to show that you have used your Schengen visa for Germany just like you had asked. Now feel free to enjoy in Spain while you can.
