Does anybody know anything about this? My wife still travels with ILR in her expired passport and she needs to travel twice in the next 45 days... She is also applaying for the British cintizenship soon - so it is absolutely pointless for us to pay for ILR transfer if she becomes a citizen in the next 6 months.Rambo wrote:At the end of my wifes interview for ILR last week, we had asked about the issue of transferring the ILR to a new passport. The immigration officer was of the opinion that tranfers of ILR stamps to new passports was going to be made compulsory soon.
The immigration officer also mentioned the upcoming large increase in visa fees, so I don't see why she wouldn't be correct about the ILR transfers?
It's not in effect as of yet, she only mentioned that it's likely to be. I don't have a date for when that is. I am sure they would announce it on the home office webpage if it was made compulsory.AlexCh wrote: Does anybody know anything about this? It might be true, but it does go against the internationally accepted norm of accepting valid visas in expired or cancelled passports. Even the US, which could be considered the most security-conscious country in the world, accepts entry by people in possession of a valid US visa in an expired or cancelled passport.Rambo wrote:At the end of my wifes interview for ILR last week, we had asked about the issue of transferring the ILR to a new passport.
