Protector requirement?

Hi,

I am new to this board. I have got my HSMP approval and Entry clearance in May 2004. I am planning to make my move by the end of September.

I am an IT professional from Pakistan and wanted to ask if the Protector (some sort of insurance) is required to be stamped on the passport in order to travel to the UK on HSMP visa.

I recently went to Cyprus on employment visa and the immigration officers in Pakistan did check it.

what you may be talking about is the ECNR(emmigration clearance). Since your EC is cleared by brit.council and since you went to cyprus and came back you won't require any further clearence.

Protector General of Pakistan's attestation is required if
1. you are going abroad into a foreign countery for Job
AND
2. You have valid job offer
AND
3. Job is registered with the OEP (Overseas Employees of Pakistan)
AND
4. Your Employer abroad or the Embassy of the Employer's Country provides you with the copy of the employment contract.


In the case of UK-HSMP you will not be needing any Protector since you are going abroad to seek employment. Mostly Protector is needed for counties like Gulf, Libya, Cyprus Tukey etc. since the Visas are issued from thee countries in the name of individuals and Protector General Protects against fraudulent Visas or HR Violations. Also remittance benefits are offered from such countries.
