A question on naturalization

Post by natques » Fri Mar 23, 2007 1:35 pm

Hi,

I am about to apply for naturalization soon. I live with friends who own the property and pay the full council tax. When the home office makes address checks, will they pull me up for non-payment of council tax ? How will they verify that I live at that property ? I've been living there for years and all my bank statements, mobile bills, etc bear that address, but since the property does not belong to me, my name does not appear on the council records. Will the home office ask me for further proofs of residence or what ? I understand that the answer calls for some speculation unless someone knows exactly what databases they checks, but all help will be much appreciated.

No, there won't be a problem. Millions of people live in properties where someone else is the registered payer of the Council Tax. They're not going to be interested in the Council Tax anyway.
