Don't do mix and Match work. If you have all the P60s,get them certified by your Employer,if they are online ones. But you must find out why HMRC does not have one year record which is available in the P60.i.e for year 2008-2009.chanduk wrote:Hi all,
First of all I must say this discussion forum is very very useful and clears many doubts/queries/confusions one has in mind. Thanks all for sharing their experience and senior members for providing useful guidance.
I have seen quite a few threads saying HMRC tax statement serves as a replacement for P60. I just called up HMRC today for the statement for last 5 years and the advisor said that my records with HMRC are only since 2009-10. Nothing is available for 2008-09. I am not sure why it is and the advisor also did not provide any reason. I however have got P60 for 2008-09. Will the combined documents work in my case or would it cause problems? Kindly advise how should I approach this.
Thanks and regards.
Thanks Kevin, understand that, I have all the P60s available, so would use that, except for 2012-13 which is not generated yet. Can you pls suggest a way to enquire why HMRC doesnt have record for 2008-09? I suspect its because my P60 for that year doesnt have my NI number, while all other P60s have. May be the advisor searched with my NINO in their system and could find records only upto 2009-10?Kevin24 wrote:Don't do mix and Match work. When did you begin work in the UK? And when did you apply for your NI number? If you were paying NI contributions and Income tax during 2008/2009 then HMRC should have a record of your employment history for that tax year.chanduk wrote:Hi all,

Your Employer will have a HMRC reference. You could quote that. If you have P60 for 2008-2009,then they must have contributed on a Temporary ID. Check with your Employer first before contacting HMRC. P60 for 2012-2013,should be available with your April salary.chanduk wrote:Thanks Kevin, understand that, I have all the P60s available, so would use that, except for 2012-13 which is not generated yet. Trust Employer has contributed your NI in 2008-2009. I am confused how you got a P60 for that year with out your NI number on your P60.cs95tdg wrote:When did you begin work in the UK? That is possible. Temporary NI numbers have been discontinued.Kevin24 wrote: I am confused how you got a P60 for that year with out your NI number on your P60.
Thanks Kevin, yes, I started working in UK in May 2008. I can see "Employer's PAYE reference" in the P60. As advised, I would check with the employer to find out the temporary NI they would have used for their contribution. Thanks again.Kevin24 wrote:Your Employer will have a HMRC reference. Thank You for the Info. Mate!ban.s wrote:That is possible. Temporary NI numbers have been discontinued.Kevin24 wrote: I am confused how you got a P60 for that year with out your NI number on your P60.
In absence of NI, employers can contibute year end tax and NI contibutions by mentioning employee's name, DOB, address and gender.
Hi Ban.S,ban.s wrote:what is your immigration category? If you are on Tier 1 through out, then P60 is not required for ILR.
many carry all 5 P60s with them and in some cases caseworker do ask for p60 - but - for Tier 1 P60s are not required and if you didn't carry P60s you would be fine.
When you are very sober can you please post your Experience.ilrapplicant2013 wrote:Ypu caan use a combination of doxuments , but dont say to the case wormer you dont have hmrc tax statment as Hmrc didnt have it, rather say that you had the p 60 hence didnt request for the tax statament fro hmrc.
That should qork prpvided the case worjer doesnt decide to onvestigate further as that will shos gap in hmrc records and p60s.
To eesolve your 08 09 situation , push your enplogera to confirm that you have the detailsand they have filed your taxes and call up hmrc a few times to trace the records.
In my case it didnt show up as employers changed names.
I think it is important for yournown benefit to sort it out.
You still have a 50 50 chane of you getting through without sortinf this out.
The recommendation is zort it out though.
Glad your problem has been solved very quickly.chanduk wrote:Thanks all for your suggestions and guidance. I called up HMRC again today and explained that I have P60 in hand for 2008-09 and that I have filed my returns through SA online. So, I would need her help in establishing my record and resolving the gap. The advisor was quite helpful, asked me when I started work first in UK and put me on hold for 5 mins while she was searching. Subsequently, she came back and asked to confirm total pay and tax for the year. After I provided her, which matched her findings, she confirmed that she has been able to locate my details for 2008-09 and linked it to my records.
I asked her at the start would it help if I provided her my UTR, which she said NO, as they search based on NINO.
Thanks for all your help & advise again as it actually made me call HMRC again today.
