I got my visa at last!
The arrival of biometric letter was agonisingly slow (more than 3 months), but it all went through fairly quickly after that. Hope they keep it up.

Date Applied/Docs sent: 27/11/12
Date Received Ack. Letter: 09/12/12
Date Biometrics Appointment: 14/03/13
Date Passport/Docs received: 05/04/13
Result & VISA stamped: Approved

My fiancé got his visa really quickly. Far quicker than the first time we applied (10 months last time). He was an over stayer by 27 days!!!! And at the time had a minor conviction!!!! Here's our timeline
27/12/12 sent off application
4/1/13 acknowledgement letter received and money taken
4/2/13 biometrics taken
28/3/13 documents received
8/4/12 biometrics received

Both applications were for flr(m)

I have recently sent a complain to UKBA Cheif exective and also my local MP because my application is with UKBA more then 6 months now. I don't know what the hell services they are providing to us.

I think anyone who are being treated like this please speak out now.

I am waiting more than you 10 months and I think to do a complain to UKBA but I will wait until the end of this month

It is very strange 10 months and you are not asking or complaining about your application. It will not take more time rather then your complaining will help to give your application to pay attention.

No, that's not true - complaining will not add any time. I'm worried that they have forgotten about your application or lost it, as it is unusual for it to take so long these days. I really think you need to complain as the people on the phone don't know anything about it.

Hi I was hoping someone here might be able to help.

My partner applied for Unmarried Partner Visa on 6th September 2012. We have just been refused.

I am his sponsor. We have been together for six years and I am an EEA citizen but not UK citizen, and he is a New Zealand citizen.

We were refused on the grounds that I do not prove I am present and settled in the United Kingdom. The letter says I have to show to have been here for a continuous period of 5 years and have provided no evidence that I hold a document that I am a permanent resident in the UK.

The reason I am confused is because I do not know what document I am meant to have to prove this. I have been a student here and worked here.

We have the right to appeal which we will be doing. All advice would be greatly appreciated.

You are very lucky. I have never had a conviction, I've never overstayed, yet I was refused due to a couple of pieces of missing paperwork. It shows how inconsistent the UKBA is.

You're 100% spot on...I know cases where UKBA grant leave to remain for some individuals and yet refuse people who abide by the rule! Example, a guy I met in my first year of Uni., he didn't bother finish his 1st yr only turned up a few times. The Uni cancelled his visa within months and UKBA tried to enforce removal but couldn't locate him (2 times). He then Submitted an FLR in July and was granted a leave to remain! Yet other people have applied and got refusal for ridiculous reasons.. UKBA is just a disgrace! Not fit for any purpose..I intend to tear them apart in court

I think what you have to submit them is various official document that you have been living here for last 5 years
documents from your GP, uni, work, HRMC, council tax, rental agreements, and if your immigration status states that you need to register ureself with a Govt. body (eg. police), then probably those registration docs might help

I've been following this forum for a while and it helped me a lot - it seems that FLR(M) applications are processed faster now.

I applied for FLR(M) on 20 Feb 2013, did bio test on 15 Mar 2013 and today I received a letter from the Agency asking for some additional documents. The letter itself is dated 26 Mar and they require me to reply before 9th April otherwise my application may be refused.

The thing is I received it only this afternoon (4th April, thursday!) which means that I only have a couple of days for preparing additional documents.

I don't know the reason why their letters take so long to be delivered but it was the same with the biometrics letter - they gave me 15 days to do the test but they'd already taken like 8 days. This is very, very annoying.

My wife also applied in 26th feb and did the bio on the 19th march 2013. We receive letter dated 25th march 2013 but only arrive 08 April for some document and the reply should get to the uk boader force by the 8April 2013.
We posted some documents with letter indicating dated of we got the letter copy of envelope dated 2 April n it was second class stamp.and also request some from my employers which take couple of days

While my application was processed they asked for further documents to make their decision. I have sent a letter to that address (Lunar house) asking for my documents back on 2nd of April by special delivery. I know they have received it because someone signed it and I tracked it through royal mail tracking service. So far they have not contacted me and I am getting worried because I need my student biometrics for any future visa applications. I also emailed the specific email address for applicants who are requesting their documents back. I attached the documents request form explaining my situation. So far have not heard anything back. Is there anything else I can do to get my documents back?

The second problem is that it has been more than 10 working days and I have not received this biometrics permit card. I have contacted them by email with my details, as the UK Border Agency tells you to. So far have not heard anything from them. Is there anything else I can also do to sort this out?

My last question is although I have not received the flr(m) biometrics card, can I look for work and if I do get one show them the decision letter from the Home Office as proof that I am here legally and start working or am I only allowed to work once I have received the biometrcs permit card?

Well i can give you some advise and probably the experienced guys on this forum can give you more info on top of that.

First thing, if you switch from one visa category to another or extend a visa, you get a new biometrics card showing the kind of leave you have been granted and the date it expires. You wouldnt get the old biometrics card back. Nobody gets the old BRP back.

Secondly, if you havent received your brp in 10 working days then all you can do is to send them email or letter on the addreses provided on the letter that comes with your documents. So as you have already done that then all you can do is probably wait as you know there are delays so it might be that they will take some time to respond.

Another thing is that BRP is the actual prrof of your entitlement, meaning what kind of leave you have so most of the employers will ask for it as a proof. Just the letter is not sufficient.

About the other missing documents i would say if someone here with a similar experience can probably give you some advise or share their experience.

To be honest i dont understand what you are trying to say when you say you did university in london and that was your biometrics. What exactly are you referring to?
No matter what category you switch from, you cant have 2 biometric cards. Only one card showing your entitlement. Im sure other members on this forum will agree with me.

I was just explaining what visa I was applying from, that's all. I was not aware you can only have one biometric card. Why do they keep it? Its expired, anyways. They won't ask you for all you past BRP cards.. but they will ask you for current BRP card..

Don't worry no one will have those previous cards so your not alone in that boat

I was just explaining what visa I was applying from, that's all. I was not aware you can only have one biometric card. Why do they keep it? Its expired, anyways. I assumed they would give it back because when you apply for visas they always ask for your previous biometric cards and visas, for example the ones stamped on the passports that you get depending on the country.

They also have my husbands pay slip and his letter from his employer with his working detials. I am more concerned with the pay slip than the letter.

I noticed UKBA unable to take money as money never left my account and after 25 days I sent off a new payment instruction together with a cover note and I completed a new form
13/02/2013-rejection letter dated 21/12/2012 arrived in the post-invalidity for lack of payment.advised to reapply.which I challenged actively

MP was totally useless,didn't respond when I made contact.I did not call HO at all.complaint was email no response till date but I can't be bothered now

probably you might have to fill up an online "Return of Docs" request form. call if you have any number given on the approval letter or try to contact the UKBA through phone
