I am about to leave for the U.K. next week. I am U.S. Military. My dependents do not have their Visas yet. We know there are other members already in UK waiting on Visas.
Their Visa applications only required to send in their Gov Fee Free passports.
They have regular travel passports on hand. Can they go with just regular passports while were waiting. I have tried contacting U.K border patrol and the U.K. Consulate in N.Y. with no luck on talking with a living person.
We will be flying into Heathrow in a regular airliner. Shouldn't they be good to stay in U.K. for up to 6 months without the Visa?
thanks!!!

Should not be a problem. They can enter as visitors and then switch to dependants of person with exempt status.
Dependants switching
As entry clearance is not mandatory for the spouse, civil partner,
unmarried partner, same-sex partner or children of armed forces
personnel (that are exempt from immigration control under section 8(4)
of the 1971 Immigration Act), switching from another category of the
rules to this one is permissible, providing all the requirements of the
relevant rules are met.

Thanks for the info. I figured they should be good. We all have regular passports so I would think we could fly there on any given day and enter the country as tourists?

So can they say they are waiting on Visas when we get to immigrations or just say they are visiting?
