You'll no longer be ur mum's dependent and will have to apply for entry to UK under your own merits, via student visa, work permit/HSMP or marriage.

To be honest I still don't see how u can be a dependent AND work.

I think your question has been answered above.
You are entirely dependent on your mum. You can work and study (what does your stamp in your passport say?) but you are bound by the time limits of your mum's visa. In order to move to one of the independent categories, you need to qualify under the Rules in your own right and apply.

You can only get a work permit if an employer finds no other suitable candidate for a job and if they need your skills- you cannot apply for a work permit yourself. NI number is irrelevant for work permits.

I don't think you qualify for HSMP, since you don't have a bachelor's degree (right?).

You can apply for a student visa if you want to move things forward (want to study, move out, etc). You won't be a dependent if you move out, and might be in breach of your visa. If you're really keen on studying, then just apply for a student visa.

You won't get ILR until your mother does on a dependent visa (and even then, if you are over 18, it might be tricky...I don't know), or if you move into another category, it will still be 10 years (since you've been here 5+ yrs already?), no matter what you do (unless you are married to a British Citizen/ILR holder).
