Issues with delayed EC, anyone?

Post by hsmp_distressed » Mon Apr 09, 2007 2:56 pm

Hello Folks,
I have applied for my HSMP and got reference number 212***. No case-worker has yet been assigned. I would like to know if its ok to apply for EC maybe a month or 2 later after I get the approval. Do the consulates make any issue out of it? I intend to move to UK in Dec and I guess its best to apply in July (must move within 6 months if I understand the rules correct) . I would like to hear your opinions on whether anyone has ever had any problems with doing something similar. If it helps, I am from Bangalore India.

There is no problem if u apply for EC late, embassy will not read anything out of it. HSMP approval gives u six months to apply for EC so should be totally fine appplying anytime in those six months.

Once we get the EC, does the Embassy stamp our passport for 2 years of visa or they stamp 6 months and then on our arrival we get 2 years of visa?

They stamp ur passport for 2years, so its up to you when u want to travel to the UK.....You only have 6months to apply for EC once u got ur approval letter.

If I travel 2 months later, then these 2 months wouldn't we counted when i finish my 5 years for permanent residence?
