Commencement of ILE settled status

Post by lucyliupenang » Mon Apr 16, 2007 10:20 am

I was granted ILE on 30 June 2005 and entered UK on 27 September 2005. I would like to know when my settled status began; on 30 June 2005 or 27 September 2005 when i entered UK? ILE was granted based on 4 years of marriage to british citizen and lived outside of UK for more than 4 years.

FYI, I want to pursue my postgraduate degree in UK universities. To qualify as a home student, I need to show i must be settled in UK and be an ordinarily resident for full 3 years before the first day of the academic year of the course. I intend to begin my course in October 2008. \

Thanks.

I think it starts on the date of entry into the UK (i.e. when it is activated), not when you first get it....someone else can clarify, though.

FYI, in terms of studying here...2008 entry shouldn't be a problem, you will just show you have been here 3 years (sept. 2005-sept 2008). However, some schools are pretty tough on this, some are lax...which unis and what course are you thinking of applying?

Dear Sakura,

I intend to apply to Kings College London, LSE, SOAS for their LLM programs.

Thanks.

Come to SOAS! I'm there now

Kidding...come if you want...But I do know all those places you mentioned are quite tough on Home/International fees, so be very careful, and ask them before applying, just to see what they say. That said, LSE is expensive anyway, even for Home students. So is SOAS actually...but I still think you should be fine.
