a mate has overstayed his visa-has been here more than 15 years but has been refused renewal several times. he has also been served with removal orders. However on top of that he has a fiance and a child both british-his country is in turmoil and he does not want to return.Whats left for him? He is traumatised...can he marry his missus or is this agaist the law?

Please advise!!!! Thanx :(

Arrgh, was just writing about the 14 year illegal stay rule bit noticed the bit about removal orders. Can you tell us exactly waht these removal orders are? AIUI there's two types.

1, please go home at ur convenience

2, We are forcibly taking you home....

The second one is bad but either way ur mate has fight on his hands. I think after one of these orders ur 14 year clock stops. The good news is that there are plenty of tales here of folks coming back to UK after these orders but it's not gonna be cheap.

Plus, he will need to go home to sort it out.

where is he from BTW? It might have an effect on whether he has to go home or not.

Whao! ur mate is really in a big one, why not seek advice from an immgration lawyers/consltant.

sorry for late reply-thanks for your contribution. The answer to your question ...where is he from? My mate is from zimbabwe if it can help at all. I am deeply concerned for his welfare should he be sent back coz he will also leave a family behind. Surely there must be a way...trying to be positive :?
