DRIVING WITHOUT INSURANCE AND MY APPLICATION FOR ILR

Post by AllHopeLost » Mon Jun 03, 2013 12:38 pm

Hi. I am writing to ask if any one can kindly advise me please. I am due to apply for ILR this year 2013. I was caught driving without insurance last year 2012.My case was this year May : I received a 6 month ban and a 465 pound fine which needs to be paid over 4 months. I have 2 other speeding offences on my licence as well doing 35 in a 30 mile zone.
I wanted to know can I still apply for ILR or would the above count against me in my application. I am currently on a work permit and would really appreciate any advice that you can offer me. I am absolutely remorseful for my actions and I know that these result in very sever consequences please help.
Also please be advised that I have been in the UK since 2002 and this is my absolute 1st offence.I have never been out of the country for 1 single day in the last 5yrs of my residence. Thanks in advance

Your best bet is an extension until 24 months has lapsed since you were convicted. After that time providing you are still eligible you can apply for settlement. You can check what information is held about you (criminal record) by submitting a subject access request with your local police station for all information on the PNC. The other speeding offences FPNs are immaterial for ILR.

It's good that you're remorseful, however, that doesn't matter for the general grounds for refusal.
