ILR - Permit Free Employment Visa wanting to get job

I couldn't locate the info I was looking for so forgive me if this is already answered elsewhere. If so just point me there.

Background: I have a permit free employment visa as a minister of religion, have settled here, had a kid here and my kids see themselves as Scots, and eventually my wife and I want to get citizenship for our family. In a few months I will be eligible for an ILR visa as I will have met the 5 year requirement (among others). However, as a means to further settlement I'd like to also become employed - whereas now I support myself with funds outside the UK and am unable to work other than with the church I helped start. Will the ILR visa allow me to seek other employment than my current ministry role?

I'm hoping to set up a business that will support me as well as provide jobs as a ministry. Thanks for your help. Mike

Indefinite Leave to Remain isnt a visa; its the end of visa restrictions for the holder.

Basically, once you hvae it you can take any employment you wish, start a business, even go on the dole if you so desire

Sorry, I don't agree with that. ILR is a visa, albeit a visa without any restrictive conditions. Nevertheless it is a visa ... permitting a non-UK person to enter and live in the UK.
