Document requirement for Schengun Visa

Hi,

I am planning to apply for schengun Visa. In this regard, i don't have the original marriage certificate and the birth certificate of my kid. However i have the photocopies of the same. I am a work permit holder in UK with my spouse and kid having work permit dependant visa.

My question is, do you really need to have orginal documents of the above to apply for schengun visa ?

If the Schengen accord visa process requires originals then provide them. I'd imagine any visa application would require originals or at the very least notarised originals.
