Tier 2 (General) Work permit - Type of job offer?

Post by amirdragon0 » Wed Sep 21, 2011 8:54 am

Hey guys;

When I was checking the requirements for applying for Tier2 (General), somtehing was not clear enough for me.
Is the job offer have to be Perm or Fixed-Term contracts are also considered?

Please find more info about my case:

I am holding Tier1(PSW) valid until July 2012. My new employer claims that they want me permanently, But as they are not sure about my visa status in future, they offered me a Fixed-Term contract till the exact day my current visa expires.
Also they are Grade-A licenced company for Tier2(General) visas and accepted to issue me a certificate of sponsorship.

Can anyone advise me by this Fixed-term contract, Am I eligible to apply for Tier2(general) ?

If There is anything else you need to know, Please give me a shout.

Rgds

Why do you need Tier 2 sponsorship for a fixed-term employment that will end the day your current leave (PSW) expires? Leave as Tier 1 (PSW) migrant is good enough until that day!!

If you wish to switch to Tier 2, then your permanent / fixed-term employment should last longer than the current leave! Otherwise what's the point?

What if they tell you on the day your PSW leave expires that they are no longer interested in sponsoring you?
Life isn't fair, but you can be!

Dude,

I want to switch my current Tier1(psw) to Tier2(General) when my current visa expires.
THE POINT IS: The employer SAID that they will offer me a perm position as soon as I was able to extend/switch my visa for at least another 6months! Actually the advertised job was permanent and according to my visa status, they decided to wait till I extend/switch it and then change the Fixed-term contract to perm.
I am wondering if is there any field/option in the CoS that they can put some notes in it or not?

Hi,

My PSW Visa expires on December 23rd 2013. I am on a temporary contract with my employer till March 31st 2015. My job is at NQF Level 6 (Advertising & Public Relations: 2472), I work 37.5 hours per week and I meet the salary requirements.

My employer is a Grade-A licensed company for Tier2 (General) visas.

Could anybody advise if I am eligible for a Tier 2 (General) Visa, considering the nature of my contract? If not, are there any other visa categories that I can look at?

Kind regards,

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply.

Can I also ask - if by 2015 my employer makes my role permanent (there is a strong possibility for that), then for what period can I renew my Tier 2 Visa later such that I am still able to apply for an ILR

I ask because I have read in the guidelines that Tier 2 can be issued only twice for a maximum of 3 years and can be extended by another 3 years. I don’t think I will fit into this 3+ 3 format as my initial visa will be only till 2015, less than 3 years. Will this impact getting an ILR?

Kind regards,
