Indefinite leave to enter

Post by sajidmahmood » Mon Apr 16, 2007 1:44 pm

My cousin who is 18 currently hold ''indefinte leave to enter'' visa. She lived in the UK for three months and now went back to our homeland to get married.my questions are: for how long she is allowed to stay abroad before her ILE expires? what about the children will they british on birth if not, what needs to be done?

Thank you.

Not necessarily - she is also expect to be living in the UK, as well as limiting her absences to less than 2 years.

At any entry to the UK, she may be challenged by an Immigration Officer as to whether she is living in the UK or not.

Only 18 and already getting married and having children? What kind of a life is that for her?

Children won't be British unless born in the UK. If not British they need to be sponsored for settlement.

JAJ: was that really called for????

'Only 18 and already getting married and having children? What kind of a life is that for her?'

smacks of something more sinister going on here!

Just got indefinite leave to remain (so then not british born ) and then going back to your home country to get married and have kids at 18 and then bringing them back into the uk??

The uk gives you indefinite leave to remain and you thank them by going back to get married there at the age of 18...... with only just getting your indefinite leave to remain......????

Something fishy going on....

In short to answer your questions first posted.

She can be out of the UK for 2years with ILR, there after she will have to go through the system again.

No, her childern if born out side the UK on ILR will not be British.

Finally, in the future if you ask questions on this site please give the full details of your situation, this will enable the members to answer with the exact information you require.
Remember Immigration is complex subject and becomming more differcult, because people abuse the system.

When it is granted outside the UK it is known as Indefinite Leave to Enter.
