-: and now you tell us you are from China? And you have an Irish-born child?I am from Thailand, and i got two years spouse visa at this moment[my husband is British]
Why bypass the requirements: if you need a photo ID, don't go looking for one that doesn't....there aren't any centres that don't anyway.ck4137 wrote:My friend is a Chinese national .He got ILR on Mar 2004 through one-off exercise.Since then he had tried to apply for a Chinese passport in Chinese Embassy in London, but was refused. Now he wants to take a test for LIFE IN THE UK for British citizenship, but the people in test centre told him he needs a photo ID .Does anybody knows how he can take a test without a photo ID and if he can apply for British nationality without a Chinese passport after Mar 2009 if possible to pass the test?PLEASE HELP ME!

What do you mean by one-off exercise.
Many refugees don't have a passport, and can't get one.pantaiema wrote:Why s/he does not have a chinese passport ?. Is not that the ILR should be in that passport ?![]()

So it would seem to fit my query as to why the Chinese embassy refused him a new passport? Just being darned out of order!Marco 72 wrote:See http://www.asylumsupport.org.uk/docs/amnesty.pdfpantaiema wrote:Dear ck4137

Hm, I remember reading something a few months back about the US trying to send back like a couple thousand illegal Chinese immigrants who had been detained for months and months but with no help from the Chinese authorities who would not give them a passport (or other travel doc.). I find it funny, though...I'm sure they behave that way to save face ("our economy is growing like no where else and we are all happy"...except those thousands who left illegally or some other way...a bit shameful for them, isn't it). Plus, they probably wouldn't mind another wave of diasporas...fewer people in China is what they want, isn't it? Current diaspora population is 30+million the world over.Dawie wrote:Don't forget that what we take for granted, i.e. fast and effecient service from our countries' embassies when overseas (and a government that works FOR its citizens) does not apply to a country like China.
Chinese citizens are not allowed to leave China without permission from the government and all travel is heavily regulated and controlled. Anyone who leaves China without permission can expect to receive absolutely no help from the Chinese government when overseas whatsoever. Not even the provision of a passport to return to China. Nice country, huh?
