I was served IS151

Hello guys,

I really find this site incredible so I decided to try if someone could advice me.

I was granted a student visa in 2001 and I renewed it about two times. I was served IS151A two months after I renewed it for the last time. Meanwhile I had borrowed money from the banks and had overdrafts on other accounts as well. As I was sent to Ghana, I am not really sure whether there is anything I could do to get back- Its been a year and ove and I cannot find work over here. For the three years that I was there I completed a masters programme, wrote a couple of professional exams, and worked as a survey engineer and an assistant surveyor. In short, I want to apply for the working holiday maker programme but I am not sure of what the implications are, i.e. if I am granted LR. It is not criminal to be removed is it. I did not go out on my own accord.

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Why have you received your IS151A? What happened?

In any event, you can return under the Rules, for example as a Work Permit Holder or Highly Skilled Migrant. Once you have got an approval from Work Permits (UK) you can then go ahead and apply for a visa. Your IS151A won't matter. All you have to do is to explain why you were given it.

Thanks so much for your input, it really makes me feel far better than before. There is one more thing that I need clarification on. My banks have taken me to court for not paying the remainder of loan I borrowed from them. I want to pay off this amount to clear my name. How should I go about it should I make an application first before settling this bailiff/court matter or should I do visa versa or what are the implications of not doing anything about it (but I really want to sort it out). What is the best way to go about it? Any experiences?

Any ideas?

That's good on you but the fact of the matter whether you pay it off or not, has nothing to do with immigration procedures. These things are not connected together.

So why does it concern you? Who, apart from you being honest with yourself, cares whether or not you have debts?
What you do is first applying under WP or HSMP, get an approval and then apply for a visa. There are no questions in any application form whether you have any debts or not. This is not the ECO's concern, either. Once you got your visa and come back, then you will be sorting your debts out here.
