Question about Workingholiday Maker visa

Post by inv07 » Fri May 18, 2007 8:38 am

I applied for a Working Holidaymaker visa in January, which was rejected because I told them I had a job waiting for me ( their view was the job, which was a 12 month contract was not ancillary enough to the holiday )
I then asked my employer to apply for a work permit for me which they did and failed.

I now wish to travel to UK to see friends and family ( and need a visa anyway due to my previous rejection ) but would like the option of picking up some casual work here and there to possibly extend my stay.

My question is: Should I ask my ex-employer for an official termination letter? To prove to the High Commission I don’t have that job anymore so I can apply for a Working Holidaymaker again?

Thanks.

How can you get an official termination for a job you never started?

I would recommend you reapply for the working holiday visa and make no mention of any job whatsoever. Supplying an official termination letter is just going to unnecessarily complicate things because they will more than likely not understand.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

I actually did get the job through phone interviews. I sent the High Commission my contract with my initial application.
