Very impressed with the speed of processing at HCI London. In total it took 29 days from submission in person and the processed OCI to reach back in London. I collected it in person 2 days later.

Hi, Could I ask if what is the acceptable form of payment if the application is being made in person? I can't seem to find anything in the guidance about this except for 'what is not acceptable if applying by post. Thanks.

how did you know your passport has been stamped ... do you know this by tracking on Royal mail .... I've sent my passport 10 days back to London and has stil not received it. .. have already sent email three times but no reply..

I know it's indeed a frustrating experience for you but for postal applications with HCI patience is the best virtue.

Hi There,

I got my OCI acknowledgement on the 6th August and sent my postal application with Special delivery on the 8th August. It was confirmed on the 12th as 9th was a bank holiday.

Its been more 9 days they still have not dispatched the OCI. Let me know if someone has similar timelines and have got their OCI.

When I sent the passport with a special delivery envelope inside, I copied the tracking number from it and used that to track its return. For your information I sent the documents for stamp on 7th august and got them back today on 21st august so I suggest yours will take little longer since there was also bank holiday. If I count all the business days then the number comes to 9 days in total. My journey is now complete and I wish all the best to others.

I am impressed too. I took just about 30 days.

Submitted in person at London 22nd July and processed documents arrived in London on 20th Aug.

I will have to collect in the next few days. Thanks for everyone for all the help and advice.

Some updates about Queue
1. Reached by around 08:00 and planned to work from company's London office.
2. I stayed in wrong queue and by 08:15 I moved to end of OCI queue !! Stayed around 45mins in Q
3. Got token 501 (i.e. 101 )
4. They asked me to come by 12:30
5. Reached around 12:15 and it was already 497 !!
6. Gave documents and was much pretty easy than I thought.
7. They gave me back my original Surrender Cert
8. Gave acknowledgement doc

My Advice. If you working in London, best time is to go around 08:00 and you can come back around 12:00ish rather than sitting there for 3 hours.

The queue situation today:
Arrived at 7 o'clock which got me 33rd in the line. Someone said earlier that the shorter queue was the OCI one - It wasn't so today. So please ask the people in the queue or you'll regret it! The OCI applicants queue does snake on a long way by the time they start giving out tokens at around 9'ish.
They open counters at 9.30a.m and had 2 counters for OCI applications and run applications at the rate of about 30/hour. So I was done by 10.30. Mine was a straightforward application - took copies of surrender cert, naturalisation cert and main pages of british passport.

They accept cash only - and preferably exact change £175. Other option is a postal order.

Overall - straightforward process so far. Hope the timescale for return is as previous posters have experienced.

No query was raised. I think it takes longer to get the OCI at Birmingham consulate.

Well, after a six month wait, OCI finally granted .... applied in person in birmingham on 27th Feb. oci approved on 23rd Aug.....no queries raised and i rang/email twice....
