Hi

I have requested for file under SAR on 10th of this month and received the confirmation of receipt of that on 17th. But chq I enclosed for £10.00 is not cashed yet.

Do I consider calling them if there is any problem with my request such as ambiguous request or another thing I put the payee "IND" instead of accounting officer-homeoffice (I did not know this until yesterday)

If yes, what would be the relevent telephone number?

Sensible advise much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Sashank

What is the rush?
It says on the guidance that it can take up to 40 days.

Because I am applying ILR soon and I want to see details before making application.

The rush is because if they say at 40th day that the chq written was not addressed to proper beneficiary or the request was ambiguous then it will take another 40 day and I will have to apply ILR without seeing the details which defeats my purpose.

Thanks

Then I hope you didn't put in the wrong person
But be grounded in reality, they are not going to sit on it for 40 days before telling you you made a mistake
And why would you assume such a scenario.

I addressed that to the right department and got reply of receipt too saying they will verify my signature with the data they hold in the HO and send withing 40 days.

I hope they wouldn't

Reason behind that is the money being, most attractive thing, not cashed yet.

Thanks
Sashank

I hope they would not

The guidance discussess Immigration and Other Home Office Records. What does that entail?? Immigration, I suspect is the landing cards and notes the officers make when you arrive. What would be the Other Home Office Records?

I got my SAR back and there are only 2 landing cards in it, only because the IO thought I was suspicious. otherwise, there are no landing cards, so does that mean, they didn't keep the other ones???

And does anyone know what does code 1 mean??? I think it has to do with my immigration status like WP holder, because code 2 was used for the other two landing cards, probably meaning for suspicious entry.

Finally, as for the the Category status, does anyone know what they are, what they stand for, i think there are 6 categories 1-6???

Maybe Victoria would know what these codes mean???

Why do you think that the IO must have thought of you as being suspicious? Don't worry about such things!

The codes and what they stand for are:-

LIST OF CONDITIONS REQUIRED WITH EACH CODE

CODE 1

NO RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS

CODE 1 + POL

NO RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS
REGISTER WITH UK POLICE ON ARRIVAL

CODE 2

NO RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS
WORK (AND ANY CHANGES) MUST BE AUTHORISED

CODE 2 + POL

NO RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS
WORK AND ANY CHANGES MUST BE AUTHORISED
REGISTER WITH UK POLICE ON ARRIVAL

CODE 3

(AS CODE 5N)

CODE 3 + POL

NO WORK OR RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS
REGISTER WITH UK POLICE ON ARRIVAL

CODE 4

NO RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS
TO WORK WITH*
CHANGES MUST BE AUTHORISED

CODE 4 + POL

NO RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS
TO WORK WITH*
CHANGES MUST BE AUTHORISED
REGISTER WITH UK POLICE ON ARRIVAL

CODE 5N

NO WORK OR RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS

CODE 7

NO RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS
MUST LEAVE UK IN*

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the codes
what about the status numbers.
And they did because the two times I had a row with the IO, they felt compelled to send those cards to my WP file.

What exactly do you mean by status numbers? Can you give an example?

By the way, the SA report contained confirmation of my passing the life in the UK test including the score which the test center couldn't even tell me.
So its kind of lame, that if you lose the certificate, they won't replace it even though the HO gets confirmation of your taking the test
