Periods of Absence

Post by jjmatuk » Sun Nov 24, 2013 5:23 pm

Hi,

I'm a UK national, and my partner was granted a 27 month visa (Unmarried Partner) in January 2013.
We will obviously seek further leave to remain before this visa runs out in October 2015, and then obviously go for ILR a further few years down the line.
We travel a lot, mainly holidays which already accounts for an accumulation of 6 months absence during the 1st year.

What I would like to know is
1. When we apply for FLR, how much time absent from the UK per year would be deemed reasonable? I could only get one question on the FLR(M) form that ask about absences of longer that 6 months. What is not clear is this a single absence or accumulating absences up to 6 months?

2. When we apply for IRL, (or SET (M))- What would the restriction be then? 90 days absent per year for the preceding two years?

Thanks a lot
