WTC and no recourse to public funds

I really need some help from you. I am currently on spouse visa. i am very well aware tht I have no recourse to public funds but as soon as my wife(she is a british citizen) sent off the renewal for tax credits this year in which they asked for my income as well( im working full time) they started working tax credit on my name.I never claimed any benefit since my arrival in the UK. My wife has called them and told them that i am under immigration control and they said they are working in stopping the payments but dont know how long it will take. Can you tell me if this is going to have an effect on my visa because i need to apply for ILR in Jan 2014. they started the payments on 4 oct 2013 and my wife called them on 11 oct 2013 to stop the payments but they are still working on this. Can i get a proof from the revenue that we have called them to stop the payments and show homeoffice if they have questions.
but I have just received the award notice and it shows they are paying the WTC on my wife's name eventhough she is not working i dont know whats happening..please help me

You do not need to stop the payments. You can claim Tax Credits no problem as it is not considered a public fund as your spouse is not subject to immigration control. Call the HMRC back and undo the cancellation.

thanks amber for the reply. i just wanted to clarify that i am on spouse visa but my wife is a british citizen. they are paying in her account but only i work. so when i am filling the IKR do i have to tick on her box that she is getting wtc. im a little confused

Yes, do not worry about it. Put the CTC under your partner and the WTC under your name, the caseworker will know it is allowed.
