British Citizenship

Hi

How long one need to stay in the UK to apply for the British Citizenship?
Is it 5 years in total? If so how long one need to spend as premanent resident (indefinite leave to remain)? Does this period (PR) matter?
In the past it used to be minimum 1 year.

Sunshine,
Five years on a visa, thereafter you may apply for ILR and a year thereafter you may apply for Naturalisation, so six years in total

What is your current visa status and how long have you been on that particular visa? Do you have a British Citizen spouse or UMP?
