Hi,
Please can you suggest on my situation as soon as possible.
Background:
My son was born in the UK in 2007 and has a Indian Passport. In 2011, I have got ILR and residence permit is stamped in his passport.
Recently I have discovered his passport is expired (expired way back in April, I didn't realise this earlier ) and went and applied for reissue of passport from Indian embassy on 19/Nov. Seems the passport are now sent to India and they the officer has asked me to check the status after 5 weeks.
Issue:
My father in law is having health problems and we have to travel to India in a weeks time. What are the options available now?
1. Obtain a emergency travel certificate and travel to India. I will ask my friend to collect the passport in 4th week of December and post it to India. Does this option pose any risk?
a. Will there be any issue at leaving port (London airport) when using this temporary emergency travel certificate
B. what will be the issues at arriving port in India (Delhi) for my child?
2. With similar analogy, while returning back from India on his new passport
A. Will there be any issues in leaving port Delhi as this is the first time the passport is entering into the records I.e. He hasn't used the passport while entering into India.
B. Considering that we have left UK with emergency travel certificate, wil there be any issue at London airport?
3. How to obtain a emergency travel certificate for a child?
Please help as I need to sort passport issue, leave, tickets, etc. many of the tasks are dependent on this issue of my child passport.
Out of curiosity, the passport used to be issued within a week in HCI London, when did this change to 5 weeks?
