Urgent - Travel near Tier 4 expiry date (Eurostar)

Post by eduleal » Wed Dec 04, 2013 2:44 pm

Hi all,

Just thought you might be able to help.
I'm on a Tier 4 visa which expires 23/Jan. My course finished in September and I am currently working for a company that will sponsor me to switch for a Tier 2 visa. My Tier 4 allows me to work full-time on what is considered "vacation time" after the course finishes.

I bought a ticket to travel to Paris on the Eurostar this weekend (2 days)

I am afraid I might have problems to re-enter the UK because 1. I have completed my course and 2. my study visa expires soon (in 50 days).

Should I worry? Should I tell them about the Tier 2 application I am planning to do? Is there a chance they will only let me in as a visitor or not let me in at all?

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

You are right to worry.

Moreover, entering as a visitor will prevent you from switching.

Thanks for your message.

Considering I still have a valid student ID (until 23/12), still haven't received my transcripts and have a graduation ceremony on the 12/12, do you think they can still treat it as a change in circumstances?

Would you say it's better not to risk it?

I agree.
I'll lose the Eurostar money, but I don't think it's worth the risk.
Bad decision buying that ticket, but it's a sunk cost.
Thanks again.
