Free Parking near India Visa Centre Hayes

Post by VR » Mon Dec 09, 2013 12:38 pm

Folks,

There is a very comfortable Sainsbury's around 5 mins away on the same road (two bus stops away ) to be precise and Parking is Free for 3 hrs. This is one of the biggest Sainsbury's in UK and the POSTCODE for Satnav is UB33EX.

If you have any discomfort walking for 5 minutes, you can park at Quality Foods in front of the Visa Centre for a fee. This is next to the Fiat Show Room and Post Code for SATNAV is UB4 0JU .

I went there to Surrender my Passport and it was pretty straightforward. As soon as you enter there is a queue where a chap checks visa applications and tokens are issued. He does not check anything for surrender of passports.(Just issues tokens).

It was over in 10 minutes. I opted to pay 10 Quid for DX secure return of the cancelled passport and Surrender Certificate.

Submitted the following;

1. Application filled in.
2. Copies of the following documents;

a) Naturalisation Certificate
b) Indian Passport (latest) all pages with anything relevant in it.
c) British Passport Copy of one page (containing the Photograph)

Note: All the copies were attested and dated (Sign, print name and date put).

3. They asked for the British Passport at the counter and used to scan the electronic chip to swipe it against his terminal to get the details on to his system.

Total Cost Including 2quid for SMS updates plus DX secure return was GBP129.04/-

cheers

Thanks to ban.s, who enlightened us that OCI will be renamed OIC, and some other changes made.

I will surrender my passport once the new system is up and running.

Ayyubi72, Thanks. If I was doing it,,, I will wait a further longer period and apply, i.e. once they change it to IOC :)

I am thinking, why pay for the same thing, multiple times, i.e. first surrendering passport (well we are effectively PIO already at that point! ;)), then for PIO, then upgrade to OCI, then upgrading to the newly introducing OIC, and then the potential future one IOC :)

Of course, in future there could be more... COI, CIO, ICO, et al. until when they will start to issue 4 letter cards ;)

The best bit about British passport I thought was that it will be clean of any visas ;), but looking at what India is doing, we will all have our British passports filled with all sorts of Indian visas (or citizenships, or half-baked eggs, or whatever they wil make up their minds to call it!) page after page, book after book.

haha, yes. There is also a remote possibility that full Indian citizenship might be offered to overseas Indian in the future.

For people who already hold PIO cards, there isn't much point in applying for OCI anyways.

Yes, until of course i get a chance too (like OCI buddies) to upgrade to IPO ( a renamed new PIO card scheme where "Persons of Indian origin" are given official certified recognition (in a piece of hand written/stampled A4 paper like that of surrender certificate) as "Persons who are of Indian Origin but who may or may not have been an Indian citizen in the past" under the Indian Citizenship Act Amendment). :) and renewable every 16 years :)

Tried Tracking but no use- Surrender of Indian Passport

Post by VR » Wed Dec 11, 2013 8:57 am

Folks,

I tried to track my application online ,using the receipt they gave.

But keep getting the message ''Record not found, did you send by Royal mail?''.

Also had paid for SMS update. Its 48 hours and not a single update. Is this normal?

Very normal VFS is an Indian company! the tracking is a farce! you will receive a email once the cancelled passports have been returned to VFS by HCI.

Text updates for surrender application?

That sounds like super duper hyper anxious paranoid Indian immigrant syndrome. :lol: :wink:
