Dear All,

I'm submitting OCI only for me and my daughter (3+ years), my wife is still holding indian passport so not included now

Does my wife also need to attest on photocopies of my kids documents?

What do you mean envelope??

Post by VR » Wed Dec 11, 2013 11:41 am

Forbc123,

In those days in India to get anything done, you had to provide ''envelopes''(filled with notes).

Dont tell me they are the norm for OCI, that too in London

cheers

FOR OCI: I read somewhere that if you enclose a SD envelop then they will send your documents by that. Or else it will be by Ordinary Royal mail and they will not take responsibility for loss of docs etc. So as a matter of due diligence get one and fill up and enclose with your documents for whatever its worth.

ForBC123,

Logically your Indian Passport is Cancelled once you surrender and this is the starting point of your OCI process.

OCI is a long-term visa and the sticker goes onto your British Passport.

Thanks VR,

one thing I understood from you is I've to enclose a return SD for OCI to be posted back to home, which I've to take it to HCI office

Have you heard any news on surrender certificate status? I went to Hayes office yesterday I was asked to come on Thursday to collect as I had to buy soem stuff @ quality Foods :) I opted into collect in person

Dear Forbc123,

I paid for the SMS alert service. Nothing so far. So fingers crossed. I have scanned my application form, kept the receipt just incase it takes a walk. By the looks of it since they asked you to pop in on Thursday, I am hoping to receive mine on Friday or Saturday the latest. I did not take a chance to pop into the Quality foods shop. Was not sure if they allowed individual customers. Anyway Happy Shopping!! I am hoping to get my OCI done too if this thing comes soon. Else will do it in the YOOOOOONITED STATES!!
cheers

No. Since you are submitting the OCI application in person, you will not submit any SD envelopes, as they are not required.

It is only when you have confirmed online that OCI has been granted and sent to HCI that you will submit British Passport to be endorsed with U visa, and get the OCI booklet. At this stage you will need to submit SD envelope if you decide not to collect in person.

You are submitting application for your daughter, so you need to attest, not your wife.

Just the most recent one. This will be the passport you will have a surrender certificate for.
