Child Benefit claim for Child arrived to UK from abroad

Post by thunderb0lt » Sat Dec 14, 2013 6:50 pm

Hello

I would like some advice on Child Benefit claim being made by my brother.

My brother is British by birth and lived in the UK all his life. His wife has joined him in the UK on spouse visa. Their child has also come to the UK, she is 6 months old and is British by descent (she has certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode).

My brother has made claim for child benefit using the standard form CH2.

He has received form "UK Child Benefit for people coming from abroad" and also another form which asks for the following information:

Part 1

What is the full name of the person whose passport the children are included on?

What is the date of birth of the person whose pasoport the children are included on?

What is the nationality of the person whose passoprt the children are included on?

At which United Kingsom airport or port did they arrive?

On what date did they arrive in the United Kingdom?

Part 2

Give the full name and address of the nursey

I would like to know if this is an error, because my brother who is making the claim has not arrived from abroad. A lot of the questions in the form are not relevant to him. Also, the questions in the second form do not apply, the child did not arrive on anyone's passport but her own passport (also she is British). She is only 6 months old and does not attend nursey.

We have tried contacting the help line but it's busy. We will try again next week but wanted some advise from here.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

The habitual residence test shouldn't apply so should be ok. just answer any questions.

Thanks for reply Amber. We crossed out most of the sections but included a covering letter.
