FLR-IED Approval

Post by sashayub » Sun Jun 24, 2007 10:03 am

Hi All,

I recently got my HSMP+Entry Clearance. Now my questions are simple:
1. According to the new points system, if i want 45 points for earnings, how are earnings calculated?
2. When i come to UK, i would need to open a bank account while i look for a job. Is it easy to open a bank account?
3. Where can i find a job, i am a lawyer?

Cheers!

Extremely confused and concerned

1. UK is Band A country. To get 45 points you need 40,000+

2. A bit harder than UK resident, but doable. There are ten of thousands people like yourself opening UK bank account every year. So don't worry.

3. Job boards, news paper, connections etc. Same with every country.

Hello Sasha,

what jurisdiction(s) are you qualified in?
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.

I'm not quite sure what sort of work you would be looking for - you wouldn't be entitled to practise in the English legal system, I would have thought?

Not sure with Pakistan, but HSBC Australia can help you open UK bank account. Ask them, but you do have to be a customer with HSBC for 12 months.

Otherwise www.1stcontact.co.uk can help you with opening UK bank account. Never used them myself, but I have friends who did.

And if you have not been with HSBC for >12mo, you can also opt for their Passport account. Just bring in proof of address in your home country (bank statements, utility bills, etc). It will cost you an extra 5 pounds a month to operate, and they will try and sign you on this for 12 months though you can talk them down to just six (and then switch to a regular current account).

Any other banks offering similar schemes?
