Hello there!
I would like to know my chances with a general visit visa based on these circumstances:
1. I recently concluded my studies at a UK uni (under the Tier 4 visa).
2. I had to return to the Philippines and now want to revisit the UK to attend my graduation, which takes place some time after my results have come out.
3. I do not have work yet but my parents will pay for the trip; in fact one of them will come with me to attend my graduation. I also made it clear they still support me.
4. I submitted the following documents showing that my parents have sufficient funds:
a. letter from their employer
b. tax returns (photocopies)
c. bank certificate/letter
d. affidavit of support
5. I also submitted a bank statement under my name as well as the name of my brothers and father. All these documents show that we have more than sufficient funds for our trip.
6. I also submitted travel plans:
a. return tickets to the Philippines (paid for)
b. hotel reservations
c. letter of invitation from the University (via email)
d. tickets to go to Italy and to return from France (all paid for)
7. I have had extensive travel experience to many countries. In fact I visited the US and Europe several times in the past, including recently. In all cases, we didn't overstay.
Also, when applying for a visit visa, do ECOs look more at an applicant's "balance sheet" (e.g. bank letters, statements) or an "income statement"/P&L (e.g. tax returns, employment letter, payslips)?
