English language/ life in UK requirements for naturalisation

Could someone please help me. I have been reading and rereading requirements for naturalisation but cannot get definitive answer. My husband got his ILR last January 2013. He now wants to apply for naturalisation based on being married to British citizen. He got his ILR english lang/life eligibility based on a letter from accredited English language school to say he has made progress and did course with UK citizen ship component.
Will this suffice for naturalisation in Jan 2014? Or does he have top do the exam. All that I have read seems a little ambiguous....thanks in advance.

For BC he now also needs a B1 level English qualification.

Thanks I will check what level he got to. Does he need to do life in UK test?

Yes, he needs to do "life in the UK test" if he's not done it before.
