travel while waiting for eea family residence card

The UKBA website says I can ask for my passport back after my eea family residence card application has been submitted. However, it also says if they notice I travelled outside the common travel area (UK, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man) while a decision is pending then they will withdraw my application.

Is this true even if I have an EEA Family Permit that allows multiple entries?

Please advise.

Requesting back the passport does not affect the EEA2 RC application but if the caseworker will not have the passport then EEA2 RC will be issued on A4 sized page. If you are a visa national then travelling on valid EEA family permit/visa will be wise to avoid any inconvenience on return.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I am a little confused by your answer though. Are you saying:

1. my application for an RC will get withdrawn if the UKBA/HO discovers I travelled outside the common travel area while a decision for the RC is pending?

Or

2. my application will NOT get withdrawn if the UKBA/HO discovers I travelled while a decision for the RC is pending because I have an EEA Family Permit?

I followed the link and it would imply that an application for return of documents would have the effect of withdrawing the application. I suspect that this is a poorly designed advisory that is appended to all such questions.

The request of document return should not affect this type of application. If you are concerned, contact UKBA for clarification.

Basically, they say; 1.6 Applications should not be treated as withdrawn unless the applicant or agent
has categorically stated that they no longer wish to pursue it.

But as you say in the return of docs form, it only gives you 2 options either to withdraw or for ID purposes. Please can someone suggest how to go about this? Does anyone have an email address for UKBA?

Sorry its me again! I finally figured it out!

On the form, the question mark explains what the different drop down options are. One says European nationals, which as a NON-EU national you would not choose. BUT under the description it says:

European nationals - This category is for all applications from nationals of countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) including Switzerland and their family members.

I tried calling the number for the UKBA listed in the common questions of the this website, but it didn't seem to work. Does anyone know the number for the UKBA including the area code (for example 44 for London)? Thank you!!
