Settlement Visa Query Pakistan

Hi I have applied for my wife's settlement visa application, I have only one major concern.

Our application was logged in beginning of august, the bank statements sent only cover up to the beginning of June.

Is this ok, or will our application be refused?.

It has been over 5 months and we have not heard anything from the home office in Islamabad, is this a alert to be concerned.

Have contacted Islamabad and they informed us that hey have made some enquiries and still awaiting the results of those enquiries.

Is it true if an application was refused the home office will hold onto to that application until the 6 month period is over as they want to reduce the number of people coming into the UK, compared to a visa that was approved they would issue it straight away without holding onto it.
