Application of TOC for ICT2 LT - Passport with VISA Lost

Hi,

I had lost my Indian passport with ICT T2 LT Visa in Brussels. I entered UK with new Indian Passport and now need to apply for my VISA. On speaking to the PEO office, I have been asked to apply for TOC and have been told that my visa will be now transferred to a BRP will limited leave to remain as per my WP (Jul-2015).

Options for me was to apply for TOC via any solicitor which turns out to be very expensive. If I have to apply on my own, I can apply in person for a same day service, or via post.

As the cost difference is considerable, I am inclined to apply on my own and via post. Is this OK?

Also have some concerns on the turn around time when using POST option. At present I do not have any travel plans for the next 2-3months, but may have after that back to India or would want to visit Europe. Will applying via post be a problem in this case.

If I take POST option, how much time does it take for the passport and other supporting documents to be returned? Are they returned along with the BRP card.

Also, regarding the supporting documents, there is a mention of Letters from Home Office. Since I had applied from India for my WP, I did not receive any letter from HO, or I am not aware of any that my company should have received - (as they also do not have any such letter). Is this something which I should have had received from HO and I need to get this before I apply for my TOC.

Additionally, since I lost my passport in Brussels, the police report is in Flemish which I need to get translated to English. Could anyone point me towards any of the certified translators whose service you have user.

I have had a look at the UKBA site, but your views on whether there is a need for solicitor's help - or is it good to do it alone via post?.

Also, would any of you have any sample covering letters for this purpose. If any please could pass me a link/soft copy.
