Moving back to UK with non EEA spouse what can we claim?

Post by poureka » Fri Jan 10, 2014 10:05 pm

Hi there,

In need of some advice please. I am a British Citizen with dual nationality of another EU Country. My spouse is non EEA and we will be applying via EEA Family Permit route. I left the UK in 2006, can I/we claim benefits once we arrive back in the UK? Housing Benefit/Jobs Seekers as we will not have anywhere to reside or jobs upon coming to the UK? I will not be classified as an EU National as I am also a British Citizen and worked in the UK between 1998-2006 until I left for another EU Country.

Can I/we claim for benefits and will it affect my partners future for ILR and Citizenship? I just don't know, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
