Cash Savings Spouse Visa

Post by godfather223 » Sun Jan 12, 2014 4:49 pm

Hello all.
My wife is a UK citizen and she returned back to UK soon after our Nikkah (Marriage) as she is doing her degree in UK. She cant meet the Financial Requirement of £18,600 as she is doing full time education. As an Applicant, I have cash savings of £65,000 in my personal bank account ( which obviously exceeds £62,500 required as cash savings). The savings were a gift to me from dad, to which I have the Legal gift deed.

My questions are
1- Will showing the funds only by me (Applicant) and not by my Spouse (Sponsor) do the job ?
2- Is the Gift deed enough source for showing the where funds came from or do I have to show where my dad got it from ?

Kind Regards

Yes to both questions...assuming you've held the savings for a minimum of 6 months.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.

Could I just add another point to avoid any confusion. My wife also gets some grant from Government, if we dont mention it at all would that be okay ? as I dont want to complicate things for the ECO

See also, Annex FM 1.7 (click).

If you meet the Financial Requirement with savings alone, I see no need to mention other Financial factors.
