Eu Spouse visa

Post by rohitshetty » Tue Jan 14, 2014 3:46 pm

Hello all ,

Me(indian national) and my girl friend(slovak national) are hoping to get married in india, I never visited Europe or uk, all though visited a lot of asian and africa countries, im sure that wont count. we are hoping to move to slovakia or other european country for various reasons.

Can you guys help me with the list of documents i require or experiences you face in these situations, by rule is it my right to get souse visa? or there is chance to get rejected?

Thanks in advance.

If you're talking about the UK, you can search for something called an EEA Family Permit (on Google and on this forum). There's lot of info online.

It's not actually called a spouse visa.

You may be best to choose a country first. That will help to guide your search...

You will remember that the UK is also in Europe...

If you want to move to Slovakia you will need to check the rules for the Slovakian spouse visa, because your girlfriend is from there and the rules on free movement don't apply to her in her own country.

You will be able to get a visa for the Czech Republic from the Embassy in your home country if you are married. It should be quite straightforward but you might want to email the Embassy first to see what they require.

For the Czech republic you will have to apply for a short stay (90 day) visa and go there. You can do this very easily AFTER you are married. You must have a government issued marriage certificate.

Once over there you will have to apply for a residence card. You should ask the Czech consulate in India for more information.
