Dual Citizenship and Travel with two passports

Post by butterfly33 » Tue Jan 14, 2014 7:52 am

I am a dual national (Ghana/UK). I am travelling to Ghana with a 1 hr stop off in Amsterdam both ways (KLM). I am confused about whether I can travel using my two passports:

1. Leave UK with my Brit pass
2. Enter Amsterdam with my Brit pass
3. Leave Amsterdam with my Brit pass
4. Enter Ghana with my Gha pass
5. Leave Ghana with my Gha pass
6. Enter Amsterdam with my Brit pass
7. Leave Amsterdam with my Brit pass
8. Enter UK with my Brit pass

Has anyone done this and should it be okay?

Thank you.

should be fine.

Dual national countries - Use country’s own passport while entering/leaving that country
Any other country – you can use any of the passports as per your preference but you need to use the same passport for both entry and departure

also check with the airline, e.g. if you leave Ghana on your Ghanaian passport the airline will want to see that you have a Schengen visa. Not sure though how this works in Accra, i.e. whether you can show one passport when checking in for your flight and another one at immigration control.

if OP has booked ticket using his BP, then for outbound travel he needs to also show Ghana passport.
Else for inbound travel he needs to show BP.
Even immigration may also wish to see the BP but for the purpose of recording entry/ immigration stamp etc only one passport data will be used.

I have booked my flight on the internet with a third party. I have an e-ticket. There has been no query about nationality or passport details. I assume I will just present the ticket at the check-in desk with my passport.
