Change of employment - apply by post or in person

Hi all

I am totally new to here and very regretful not to ask for suggestions earlier...

I am under Tier2 visa that will expire after 14/08/2014. Recently I am changing my employer, who has provided a new CoS to me. We have agreed a new start date of 07/04/2014.

Since the notice period on my current contract is 3 months, I submitted my resignation letter last week before applying for new visa. So I will resign from current position after 06/04/2014. After reading many posts here, I realise that I have done something stupid...

I am planning to apply for my new visa ASAP. My case is straightforward and all documents of mine are clear and easily handled. However, I must make sure the new visa can be issued before the date of leaving current employer (06/04/2014)

As such, Can anyone please advise that whether I should apply my visa by post or in person, considering the duration of recent Tier2 process by UKBA.... Personally I would prefer to apply by post because my new employer is willing to pay visa fee by post , NOT that in person.....

Thank you very much for prompt reply. I understand that it is hard to predict the processing time of postal application... I checked the timeline post. It seems that it is pretty fast (10-17 days) recently to process switching from PSW to T2. However, the cases for changing employers are too few (only 2 cases since 06/2013)...

However, I ve noticed that the UKBA just released its new service standard on 13/01/2014, which claimed all applications except ILR within UK will be processed within 8 weeks. So I am a bit confused...

Any suggestions are more than welcomed!
