Delay in processing "Spouse Settlement Visa Application".‏

Post by Bhavanishankaruk » Mon Jan 20, 2014 8:49 pm

Hi All,

Hope you doing well.

I am writing this post in regards to the settlement visa application for my wife submitted to British High Commission on 13th June 2013 via VFS, Chennai, India. It's been 30 weeks approx. (i.e. 7+ months) we are still awaiting decision from UKBA.

The time frame for such applications advertised by Home Office is 12 weeks / 60 days that has been passed and we have not yet heard anything from them. (Below are excerpt from UKBA Home Office website on service standards)

We have service standards for processing UK visa applications. The standards below relate only to applications made at our visa application centres overseas and not to in-country leave to remain or settlement applications. Our standards say that we will process:

• 90 per cent of non-settlement applications within 3 weeks, 98 per cent within 6 weeks and 100 per cent within 12 weeks of the application date;

• and 95 per cent of settlement applications within 12 weeks of the application date and 100 per cent within 24 weeks of the application date.

When we constantly liaising with (Chennai.VisaEnquiry@fco.gov.uk) on application status for past 4 months, we use to get standard response as below:

I wish to inform that your file is in queue for re-assessment. We cannot tell exactly when a decision will be made on your application. However you will be informed once the outcome is decided.

I got married in India on 25Nov2012 & it’s been more than a year now, am unable to lead happier life without my wife.

Our personal life is terrible & we both go through stressful situation, if this continues not sure whether my wife & me would live together.

Details of my wife application are as follows:

Application Date & Venue: 13 June 2013 at VFS, Chennai, India.
Application Reference Number: CHAC/130613/000019/1.
Date of Birth: 12/03/1992.
Application deferred: 02 Sep 2013.
Additional documents sent on: 07 Sep 2013.
Current status of application in VFS site: “Visa application is under process at the British High Commission”.
Wait time from date of application: 30 Weeks approx. (i.e. 7+ months).
Letter sent to MP: 20 Jan 2014.

Query : Could you please advise / direct me the current situation on why it is taking so much time for UKBA to make a decision on the application & any hint to speed up the process of making decision on the application.

I really appreciate your valuable comments.

Regards,
Bhavani Shankar.
