Proof of Study Grant (EEA2 - Student Route)

Post by siroc » Wed Jan 22, 2014 1:45 am

Hi there,

Last October we sent off an EEA1 and EEA2 application under the student route.

Although we were aware that a financial declaration by the EEA national was itself alone sufficient to satisfy the financial requirements under the legislation, additionally we decided to include confirmation of my wife's study grant in order to cover all bases.

The (translated) confirmation that we sent to the UKBA shows that:
A) she is entitled to a grant,
B) that it is paid as a lump sum to her Lithuanian bank account in September and,
C) that it is intended for the study semester running from Sep 2013 to Dec 2013.

As she's still studying in the UK (the plan all along), she's entitled to the same grant for this semester running January to April. The funds will be transferred as a lump sum before the end of this month. However, the key difference here is that her university has no intention to issue documentation confirming the grant as they did in the first instance.

Even though I reiterated that our original financial declaration remains a true representation of the status quo when I sent some supporting documents to the UKBA last month, I feel it's best if I send confirmation of her grant for this semester as well.

In such case, the only way I can see it's possible to prove receipt of the current grant to our case worker is to send a downloaded bank statement showing the amount received in her Lithuanian bank account together with details of the date/payee etc. Obviously we can't have the statement signed/stamped by her bank as we are no longer in Lithuania.

Is this likely to be sufficient? The default text on the statement is in Lithuanian, but if the only thing I'm showing here is my wife's name, payee's name, date and amount received - will I still need to pay the £50 or so to have it fully translated? What do you think?

Thanks
